1970 Datsun 240Z

Group 5 Rally Car

Driver: Rick Hintz
Co-driver: Mark Swalley (subs Kimberly Lehman and Mark Johnson)

Rick Hintz' 240Z has an interesting competition history. Rick reports: "It was originally a road race car, then Bob and Scott Trinder bought it and built it into a rally car, pretty much like it is now. They stage rallied it some, even rolling it in front of us once, and we almost hit it. So the next time I saw it I bought it. In between it had been fixed, and then did the Panama to Alaska marathon rally, finishing 6th overall, and first in many ways if you slice it right (Canadian crew, father-son team, etc.).

"I have stage rallied it for 2 years (1998 and 1999). The first had some successes and a mighty crash. The 2nd year was quite successful. I did the full NorPac Club Rally schedule, finishing 9 of the 10 events (all but the first, on which the tranny expired). I placed in the top 10 overall in Oregon and Washington rallies four times. I ended up taking 3rd place in Gp 5 for the season.
